The Fabulous Wedding Dress in the movie Sex and the City
If you have watched the movie Sex and the City, you must remember the gorgeous wedding dress Carrie Bradshaw (starred by Sarah Jessica Parker) wore in her wedding. What a wonderful gown!
The stylish wedding gown created by the famous stylist Vivienne Westwood stands out with huge folds, a slim-fitting waist and exquisite details. The over-the-top dart neckline is underlined with an elegant top made of gold-backed ivory silk satin and is finished with an exaggerated skirt of ivory silk Radzimir taffeta.
In April of 2009, Vivienne Westwood released the Carrie versions of wedding dress for purchase in ten boutiques worldwide, with limited copies, of course. As a matter of fact, the copy versions are shorter than the Carrie version. Despite the high price, the copies of Carrie’s wedding dresses were soon snapped up. Nevertheless, there are not a few girls who have admired the classic style wedding dress for long and also who are lucky enough to have extra $15,000 lying around.
It is widely recognized that the style of the wedding gown looks good on every body type. However, not everyone likes the unique wedding gown which gained popularity because of the movie. The color, in particular, is the most debatable section of the dress. The ivory wedding dress looks just fabulous on Sarah Jessica Parker and steers the traditional white color of wedding dresses towards a fabulous ivory color. Some probably love the gorgeous fashion gown in such a different color, but it doesn’t mean they hope to don the dress on their own wedding ceremonies as they don’t think the color can match the sacredness of their marriages. In addition, some women like the copies better than the Carrie’s dress. For these girls, looks more simple and elegant, and more convenient to put on.
Despite that Carrie’s wedding dress in the movie attracts a great deal of attention from both the common fashionistas and the high fashion world, we are not going to see a street of girls wearing the Vivienne Westwood copy versions of the dress. As Discussed above, the copy versions are limited in number and the price is not commonly acceptable after all. In addition, many prefer to keep it as a fashion gown for admiration rather than as a wedding dress for their own wedding ceremonies.
