How to clean a Satin Black paint finish?
Ok so I have an Epiphone SG 400 Goth and it has a Satin Black finish. Lately I have got some oily finger prints on it and I`m just wondering how I would go abouts cleaning it? I have guitar polish, but polishing a satin finish isn’t right. Anybody know what I should do?
Something I always do is spit on the finish. No, Really. The digestive enzymes in your saliva will literally eat away the fingerprints, and leave the guitar un-harmed. Then clean it with a high gloss polish and play away dude!
Something a little more drastic, is gasoline. Take a small amount of gas onto a clean handkerchief and rub on in circles until the fingerprints come off. But be careful with this method, it could be dangerous for the instrument. Dont OVER rub it. Once the prints are off, wipe the gas off with a dry towel and then use a cleanser so the smell doesn’t stick.
