Bridesmaid Mother

Whats the mother of the brides role in planning a wedding?
My mum and chief bridesmaid are arguing constantly and i’ve stopped enjoying planning my wedding and i’ve just started!!!!
When you lose control of YOUR WEDDING, then it is no longer YOUR WEDDING, it’s somebody else’s dream.
Planning your wedding should be an enjoyable experience, and if it is not enjoyable, then YOU are doing something wrong, and possibly many things wrong. So let’s start with your Number 1 problem . . YOUR MOTHER and YOUR CHIEF BRIDESMAID should not be debating or arguing about YOUR WEDDING PLANS. The ceremony site should not be their decision, the reception site should not be their decision, the wedding invitation style should not be their decision, the dinner menu should not be their decision, and what wedding gown you wear should not be their decision. So start speaking up and stating your mind before they walk all over you!
I want you to take a BIG step forward and pretend it is the day after your wedding. Are you going to be pleased and proud of what they think you should do or have OR are you going to be unhappy and filled with regrets? And let’s face reality, you only get ONE CHANCE to do this right!
So I say to you . . get control of YOUR WEDDING! I know you cannot “fire” your Mother but you may want to consider “firing” your chief bridesmaid if the bickering continues. And don’t let your Mother’s credit card or checkbook rule your life.
True story . . A Bride and Groom got very tired of their families arguing about everything (the ceremony site, the reception site, the color of the bridesmaids’ gown, what DJ to hire, the wedding invitation style, what flavor the wedding cake should be, etc) so they decided to to have the wedding that they wanted. They found a bed and breakfast on the internet close to a big amusement park that advertised “get married in our beautiful garden.” They conacted the B&B’s manager and made arrangements to get married three weeks later. They got married in the B&B’s garden on a Friday morning by a local minister and Friday afternoon they headed for that big amusement park (about 20 miles away). They stayed at the park until closing on Friday, and went back again on Saturday. They had a great time! When they got back home (about 200 miles away) on Sunday evening they called their families and said, “You’ll have to find something new to argue about. We got married this weekend. We got the wedding that we wanted.”
