Jacket Lace
Where can I get (or how can I make) the crew jacket from the Nostromo (Alien)?
I want to be able to wear a replica of the jacker worn by Dallas and Kane on the Nostromo, it has patches, lacing on the sleeves and ‘Nostromo’ on its back. I cannot find a replica for sale anywhere, and if buying one is not an option, can someone identify HOW exactly to make a real looking replica, not just a jacket with patches.
Here’s an example of what it may take to replicate the costume-
You will have try and get good stills of the jacket from the film.
Then you will have to search army surplus store or thrift
stores and find a jacket that’s close. On top of this you
will need to add or delete elements to make it look like
the real deal.
(In the movie 2010 they had to remake the models used
in 2001 because Kubrick had them destroyed. All they
had to go by were shots from the original film.)
Ripley’s flightsuit, which has been described as a Canadian
Air Force flightsuit (circa ’60′s) featuring laces in the
back, is the only costume I could identify.
They are very hard to find. I’ve only seen one
in my life and that was back in ’79 or ’80,
worn by a pilot at an airshow.
Dallas’s jacket looks like an old mototrcycle racing
jacket, probably modified for the film.
I thought this was a good question and I tried hard
to find some of the info you wanted. All I came
up with was a link to some Nostromo patches
and some of the props. Sorry.
