Decorative Hair
What could I make little flowers out of?

Any and all suggestions welcome… I want to make little decorative flowers – mostly to wear in my hair. Do you know of a good clay that would work? Fabric? Or any other type of material and how I could use it???

You could use fabric stiffened with Stiffy or Aleene’s Stiffener, for example, or perhaps even wire. You could make them “flat” or you could make them from two same-pieces sewed together front side to front side (leaving a small gap), then turned inside out.

You could certainly make flowers from polymer clay (or air-dry clays too), then attach them to barrette forms, hair cuffs, hair sticks, hair “worms,” etc.
If you’re intersted in that, check out the pages at my site that deal with making barrettes and with making clay flowers and leaves:

(It’s also possible to make something called “canes” from polymer clay with images of flowers running through them –like a jellyroll. Slices cut from those canes can be used alone for barrettes/etc., or made into sheets or beads of clay that can be used for barrettes/etc. too. If you’re interested in those, check out this page:
