Mantilla Veil
How do you wear a spanish mantilla as a bridal veil?
mine is rectangular in shape and i’m trying to find a way to wear it without it falling into strange points but rather have a more flowing effect. How does it attach to your head and stay there?
Traditionally, a mantilla is simply draped over the head, particularly with a single high comb holding an up-do in place. The mantilla is draped over the comb, and (in theory) the comb keeps it from sliding. There are some pictures in the first link below, but you’ll see that most of them are round or triangular.
That’s theory. All the people I know in real life struggle with it sliding off, and hold a mantilla in with a couple of bobby pins. I have had success with simply slip-stitching the lace carefully to a light plastic comb and holding it in that way.
